Writers Series: Writing a Feature (Class is Full!)

Have you written short films and now you feel ready to write your first feature? Or have you attempted to write a screenplay only to end up confused and frustrated? This workshop will take you from start to finish through the screenwriting process.

Participants must bring a NEW story idea that they will develop throughout the class. Participants will read each others work, share ideas and offer feedback. If you complete all the writing assignments, you will finish the class with a complete feature-length screenplay.

Six evening classes;

  • Wed, Nov 4 – The Characters and Story Ideas
  • Wed, Nov 11 – The First Act structure
  • Wed, Nov 25 – The Second Act structure (part 1)
  • Wed, Dec 9– The Second Act structure (part 2)
  • Wed, Jan 6 – The Third Act structure
  • Wed, Jan 20 – Feedback, Revision strategies, Final tips

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Rebecca Gibson is an award-winning actor, writer, producer and a director. Recent credits include the documentary Daphne Korol:The Drama Queen of Winnipeg (writer/director/producer). the web series WindCity (writer/ series lead), and the feature film H&G (co-writer/0producer), which has played in festivals all over North America and recently won a Silver Remi at the Houston WorldFest. Rebecca’s work as a writer includes several feature films and television series, many of which have development deals that are at the packaging phase (attaching lead cast). Her award-winning screenplay Jane Garbage will be produced as a feature film by Rebecca’s production company, Red Czarina Entertainment (with her partners Danishka Esterhazy and Ashley Hirt). Rebecca is currently working on Taken,  a series focused on the search for missing and murdered Aboriginal women. Rebecca has trained and mentored thousands – writers, directors, actors, and more.

-The Winnipeg Film Group reserves the right to cancel any course where the minimum registration has not been met. Anyone registered for a course that has been cancelled is eligible for a full refund, Cancelled course fees may also be used towards any other Winnipeg Film Group training programs.
