Have you written short films and now you feel ready to write your first feature? Or have you attempted to write a screenplay only to end up confused and frustrated? This workshop will take you from start to finish through the screenwriting process.

Participants must bring a NEW story idea that they will develop throughout the class. Participants will read each others work, share ideas and offer feedback. If you complete all the writing assignments, you will finish the class with a complete feature-length screenplay.

Six evening classes;

  • Wed, Oct. 5 – The Characters and Story Ideas
  • Wed, Oct. 19 – The First Act structure
  • Wed, Nov 2 – The Second Act structure (part 1)
  • Wed, Nov 16– The Second Act structure (part 2)
  • Wed, Nov 30 – The Third Act structure
  • Wed, Dec 14 – Feedback, Revision strategies, Final tips

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Tyson Caron just completed his first feature film, Lovesick as a writer / director. The film was produced by Kyle Irving (Capote, Reasonable Doubt) and filmmaker Jacob Tierney (Good Neighbours, The Trotsky). Tierney also stars in the film as the lead. Jessica Paré (Mad Men) and Jay Baruchel (This Is The End) are attached in supporting leads.  The film received a Canadian Production Spotlight Award at ShowCanada 2016.  Lovesick was funded by Telefilm Canada and Manitoba Film and Music and is being distributed by eOne. The goal is to tour the festival circuit and premiere in the winter of 2017.

-The Winnipeg Film Group reserves the right to cancel any course where the minimum registration has not been met. Anyone registered for a course that has been cancelled is eligible for a full refund, Cancelled course fees may also be used towards any other Winnipeg Film Group training programs.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.
