Skateboarding didn’t begin as a rebellious, anti-authority lifestyle activity. Tony Alva was a key figure in the early evolution from wholesome “sport” to freewheeling art form. From his humble beginnings on the streets of Santa Monica to his rise to superstardom as part of the legendary Z-Boys, the film chronicles his drug-induced implosion and ultimate rise from the ashes to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations of skateboarders the world over.
