Spend two hours with acclaimed, accomplished and prolific Winnipeg filmmaker BJ Verot as he guides you through his career, detailing his work as an independent filmmaker and his successful transition from directing shorts to his first feature film.
This workshop will go over his script writing process, finding the right people to collaborate with, the importance of learning to be your own producer and how to set bench marks with each film project to have a successful career. After the talk, there will be a 30 minute Q&A.
BJ Verot is an award-winning writer/director/producer based in Winnipeg, Canada. His most recent short film, Echoes In The Ice, has screened around the world, most notably as part of the Telefilm: Not Short On Talent At Cannes Program at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. It also screened at the Toronto After Dark Festival and the Hollyshorts Film Festival. It has been acquired by DUST, a division of Gunpowder & Sky, and is currently viewable on their platforms. BJ is in post production on his first feature film, a sci-fi horror entitled The Return. The film stars Richard Harmon of the CW’s The 100.
His National Screen Institute – Drama Prize Film, Chopin’s Heart, also screened at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival with the Telefilm NSOT Program, and he is the winner of the nationally televised CBC Short Film Face Off (2015) for his film Loss Of Contact.
