Post Audio Fundamentals (Sept. 8th)

This one day, 3 hour workshop in partnership with Video Pool will be designed to provide a solid basis in the mixing and creation of sound design elements for film, television, video games and online video content. Other topics included will be an intro to composition, restoration, and mastering for digital.

  • Mixing your recorded sound
  • Equalization, or “why does it sound so boomy?”
  • Synthesis, or “where do those sounds even come from?”
  • Sampling, and how to make it not sound repetitive
  • Spatial Manipulation
  • DAWs: which one is best for you?
  • VST instruments and effects
  • MIDI implementation
  • Restoration, or “OMG, I left the fan running during this shot”
  • Mastering, or “why does my waveform look louder than it sounds?”
  • Rendering to format

This workshop is designed to cater to a very small class so you can have as much hands-on practice as possible.

About the Instructor: Andy Rudolph is obsessed with sound. His work spans nearly all facets of audio creation including: musical composition, performance, interactive installations, audio engineering, post-production and most points in between. He has performed and exhibited around the world, garnering impressive reviews. He also serves as Video Pool’s Education Coordinator and teaches a Digital Art class at Art City.

-The Winnipeg Film Group reserves the right to cancel any course where the minimum registration has not been met. Anyone registered for a course that has been cancelled is eligible for a full refund, Cancelled course fees may also be used towards any other Winnipeg Film Group training programs.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.
