This year’s 25th anniversary of the Winnipeg New Music Festival features artists who will challenge, stimulate and provoke looking both back and to the future. In conjunction with the festival we present a special late night premiere of a brand new documentary on Sonic Youth co-founder and musician Lee Renaldo.

Featuring: Mark Ibold, Alan Licht, Bob Bert, Leah Singer, John Giorno, Dan Graham, Aaron Mullan, Don Fleming, Davide Balula,Phil Niblock, Thom De Jesu and special appearance by Thurston Moore. Featuring an original soundtrack by Lee Ranaldo & Hifiklub. Through the streets of NYC, through artist studios, cafes, recording studios, lofts and venues, Lee Ranaldo meets his friends, collaborators and people who influenced him. They talk about music, visual art, life and sausages, being a part of a band and being by your own.They talk about a lot of different things with Lee, from childhood in the suburbs to Sonic Youth and beyond.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.

The Winnipeg Film Group is located on Treaty 1 Territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples and in the homeland of the Métis Nation. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land.
