King of Jazz is a stunning, newly restored 1930s feature starring Paul Whiteman and his orchestra (including Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang) Largely consisting of musical performances the movie features several songs sung on camera by the Rhythm Boys (Bing Crosby, Al Rinker and Harry Barris) Filmed in the early two strip Technicolor the camera negative was scanned at 4K resolution and then blended with additional footage from multiple dye-transfer prints pulled from fragments in 14 different collections in the United States, Britain, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and the Czech Republic. The film was selected for preservation in the library of Congress in 2013.
