Comedy Film Fest: WINNIPEG’S GOLDEN BOYS OF THE GOLDEN AGE

Thu, Feb 7 / 7 pm

This special feature-length program of shorts presents classic WFG short films that will be projected on film. Primiti Too Taa by Ed Ackerman & Colin Morton is the brilliant multi-award-winning 1986 classic of sound poetry and typewriter animation. 1919 by Noam Gonick reimagines the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike with a fictional group of gay men in a Chinese bathhouse. The Dead Father is Guy Maddin’s first film, a “grey comedy” about death, forgetfulness and the ingestion of guts. Springtime in Greenland is the classic 1981 John Paizs comedy about life in suburbia. The Milkman Cometh by Lorne Bailey is the award winning bittersweet comedy about a man’s obsession with the world depicted on a can of milk.

The Canadian International Comedy Film Festival in association with the Winnipeg Film Group presents two days of classic & recent WFG films at the Cinematheque. Full program at www.cicff.ca.
