I Shot it on 16: The Bolex Film Experiement
Location: WFG Studio
Registration Fee: 175
Instructor: Ivan Hughes, Production Centre Director

Sign up today for the Winnipeg Film Group’s 2014 “I Shot it on 16” Bolex Film Experiment.

The theme is ‘Winnipeg in Winter, It’s a Dry Cold’.

There are 12 spots available, so reserve your spot today by visiting the WFG office or registering online.

Cost of the workshop is $175 and you must be a General Member of the WFG

Create your very own 16mm experimental film project at the Winnipeg Film Group.

What’s included? First we’ll have a day of concepts and instruction in light meters and Bolex camera use. You’ll then get 100′ of B&W* 16mm film and a 2-day Bolex camera rental. After you’ve gone out and shot your footage we’ll come back together for some instruction on how to hand process your film. This can give the film add a bit of scratching and water droplets but we’re going to go a step further still. Next we’ll give you some instruction in tint/toning where you’ll be able to manipulate the look of your film further. You can even scratch it up completely if you want.

From here you will learn how to operate the JK Optical Printer so you can create a digital version of the film to edit.  We’ll also show you how to use the Steenbecks so you can cut the film directly.

The films can be edited on the WFG iMacs when they are available but no editing instruction will be part of this workshop. You can also edit your film on the Steenbecks and submit your final film for screening on 16mm film.

Once you’ve finished editing your film and adding a soundtrack, hand it in and we’ll screen them all in the WFG studio.  After that you have your film and can enter it in festivals or submit it to the WFG distribution for consideration.

*You can also buy additional 100′ rolls of B&W 16mm for $25!
