Following each screening, Alison will moderate a discussion of how the book compares to its screen adaptation. Based on the novel by J.G. Ballard, Crash tells the story of a group of people who take sexual pleasure from car accidents. Highly controversial when first released (banned in Britain) this psychological thriller won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes for its “originality, daring and audacity” and was voted one of the Top Ten Films of the Year for 1996 by the prestigious French cinema journal Cahiers du Cinema.
