Introduced by Nicole de Boer.
Winner of Best Canadian Feature at the 1997 TIFF Festival, Cube is one of the best sci-fi cult films ever made in Canada. Seven strangers (including Nicole de Boer) wake up in a prison constructed of cube like cells which seem to be constantly reconfiguring in some mysterious pattern. They try to figure out why they are there, what exactly the cube structure is and then eventually how to get out. It transpires that some of the cubes contain nasty booby traps but as the tension rises it is clear that the greatest danger to them is each other. This is a brilliant, claustrophobic horror film which shows just what you can achieve with a low budget, a simple set and a great script.
