*WORKSHOP FULL* DIY Colour Super 8 Film with Kristiane Church

*Note:  This in-person workshop is limited to 10 participants. While masks are no longer required to be worn in indoor public spaces in Manitoba, individuals are recommended to wear a mask in our Production Centre. 

 

Learn the basics of Super 8 filmmaking and colour bucket hand processing with Kristiane Church!

 

This workshop will cover:

  • Learn to use a Super 8 camera from the Winnipeg Film Group to shoot your own short film on Kodak 500& Vision3 film (tungsten balanced)
  • Experiment with low light colour shooting, neon lights, city at night
  • Learn the fundamentals of automatic exposure and using an external light meter
  • Adjusting the diopter and focussing your subject
  • Experimenting with different frame rates
  • Try out fades, zooms, time lapse, stop motion
  • Bucket process your 500T film as a negative using the ECN-2 process
  • Using the Optical Printer to scan your film into a digital file, or a DSLR to shoot a projection into a digital copy

 

Instructor Bio:

Kristiane Church is an artist working in Winnipeg, Manitoba in filmmaking, photography, performance and installation. Her current work Betula is a constructed cinematic environment which participants can enter. She works as the Photography Technician at the School of Art and as a freelance cinematographer for various artists. She loves walking around big dark fields!

The Winnipeg Film Group reserves the right to cancel any course where the minimum registration has not been met. Anyone registered for a course that has been cancelled is eligible for a full refund, Cancelled course fees may also be used towards any other Winnipeg Film Group training programs.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.
