Distribution For Short Films with David Zellis will discuss the important aspects of how to start selling your film. David will go over what markets are available for short films, learning how to work with a distributor or how to self distribute.
He’ll also walk you through marketing and advertising, creating an effective call to action and what role social media plays in selling your product. This workshop is best suited for those who have recently finished their shorts- after registering, you can send your film to the instructor (preferably less than 40 minutes).

David Zellis has been involved in the Film Industry in Manitoba since 1999, and has produced numerous short films. From 2001-2005 he was the Production Coordinator at the Winnipeg Film Group. From there he worked in Insurance for a number of years, specifically film Insurance from 2006 -2008. He established his Production Company Zellco Productions in 2009, and since then Zellco has seen significant Growth. In 2013 David started working with his business partner Criag Guiboche who forms the other half of Zellco Productions now operating as Zellco Entertainment.
In 2015 he finished working as a producer on the micro budget horror film “Dark Forest”, much of the distribution of the film was done through Zellco including theatrical and Physical media. From 2017 – present Zellco continued with production but slowly pivoted to distribution, knowing many filmmakers locally and across Canada struggled with wider releases of their films Zellco entertainment has a catalogue of 40 titles and growing, spanning many decades and genres and released on multiple platforms including theatrical, i-Tunes, Amazon, Tubi and CBC In his spare time David boxes recreationally and is a lifelong gamer with a passion for the fighting game genre.

The Winnipeg Film Group reserves the right to cancel any course where the minimum registration has not been met. Anyone registered for a course that has been cancelled is eligible for a full refund, Cancelled course fees may also be used towards any other Winnipeg Film Group training programs.
