Community Screening: Canadian Sport Film Festival

The 2015 Canadian Sport Film Festival returns to Winnipeg for a fifth year with the Manitoba premieres of two engaging docs, sponsored by RBC. 7pm – Red, White, Black & Blue (2012, documentary, USA/New Zealand, 81 min, dir: James Brown) – Manitoba premiere
A boys’ team and aRed White Black & Blue - web girls’ team from south Los Angeles take their new-found rugby skills across the world as they tour New Zealand.  By playing local communities, both Pakeha and Maori, the players learn and grow with their teammates, discover new cultures, and dispel myths about the community that they represent.

9pm – Next Goal Wins (2014, documentary, UK, 93 min, dir: Mike Brett & Steve Jamison) – Manitoba premiere
When the American Samoan Next Goal Wins - webnational soccer team lost to Australia 31-0, these tiny islands crash-landed into last place in the FIFA world rankings. Despite having not won an official match for more than a decade, the team’s love of soccer and American Samoan pride sustain them as they train for the next World Cup – a journey that brings a well-travelled Dutch coach to the islands and features the appearance of the first-ever transgender player in a FIFA qualifying match.

our location

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.

The Winnipeg Film Group is located on Treaty 1 Territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples and in the homeland of the Métis Nation. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land.
