Have you ever wanted to make an object move or a character come to life? Are you a big fan of animated films and television shows? Then join us on Saturday, March 3 for a fun 6 hour practical/lecture based class on all things animation!
In this Animation Workshop, you will learn all the steps to become an animator.
The Workshop will cover:
- Making a model sheet
- Thumbnailing/Keyframing
- Squash and Stretch
- Weight and Mass
- Timing
- Breakdowns and In-betweens
- “Sweatboxing” your work
- Looking at 2D animation – How to make a flipbook using a pencil and notepad
- Stop Motion – Photographing a play-do character, and watching playback
- Cut-out Animation – Using construction paper cut-outs to animate scenes
Melissa will teach both hand animation and basic computer animation using the free software: “Pencil”. You will leave the class with a short animation of an object moving around the screen.
For ages 7 – 18!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Melissa Hiebert is an independent animator and illustrator from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is the creator of The Toon Troop, and founder of Penny Productions. She was bitten by the animation bug after a trip to Disney World’s Animation Academy, where park guests can learn how to draw Disney characters with an experienced artist. Her films have screened at the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival and the Jasper Short Film Festival.
