The literal and figurative face of Cinematheque, Dave Barber, did so much to ensure our film community’s vitality, renown, and continued existence. While not one for the spotlight and ever humble about his importance, Dave nonetheless had a good attitude towards having a simple design of his visage become the iconic logo of his dear theatre. We know that his legacy as the founding father of independent cinema in Winnipeg will live on, and we hope that by keeping the classic ‘Dave Shirt’ in supply, people around the world will have the chance to learn about this tremendous human, stopping a traveling ‘Pegger to ask, ‘Hey, who’s that on your shirt?’
All of the proceeds from Dave shirt sales will go towards Cinematheque programming and special initiatives through the Dave Barber Memorial Endowment Fund.
