Echoes

By Jaimz Asmundson | 00:06:00 | Experimental | 01/01/2015

Structured around the recollection of a premonitory dream, fragmented memories from the period leading up to the death of the filmmaker’s mother were projected on to natural textures and surfaces, re-photographed, composited and processed until the memories became abstracted representations of the evolution, degradation and disintegration of memory and the physical self.

Love Life

By Alex Ateah | 00:02:23 | Comedy, Experimental | 1/12/14

In this selfie-style video, the artist discusses the type of person that she imagines herself being with. Landing Sites

By Kent Tate | 00:05:00 | Experimental | 01/10/2014

There are places that we seek, and there are places that find us. One can never know for sure which comes first; the seeking or the finding. Often the unexpected moment occurs, the unforeseen discovery.

Nestor

By Daniel Robinson | 01:01:45 | Experimental, Narrative-Fiction | 30/09/2014

"The film Nestor was designed specifically to be made alone -- not out of vanity, but necessity. After years of struggling to find the means to mount a traditional film production, I decided to go it alone. I wanted to test the very limits of independent filmmaking. The one rule I set for myself was…

Re:cycled

By James Pomeroy | 00:05:25 | Animation, Experimental | 24/09/2014

An abstract handmade film that is part structuralist inquiry into the film print as material object instead of information bearer. The film was made by reusing/recycling/reworking bits of film prints that are usually never seen, such as lab markers, countdowns, negative and black and clear leader. In part, the film is an essay in visual…

Hand-crafted, stop-motion figures come to life in this dreamlike world inspired by Native stories, in which a confined woman is liberated by grandmother spider while opaque memories are projected in an effort to restore her spirit as life nears its end.
