Compression

By Kent Tate | 00:02:22 | Experimental | 15/01/2012

I sometimes wonder if we are living in an age that is suspended in some kind of intractable inertia. Compressing both the past and the future, inducing a “constant present.” A fictional place where the rhythms of nature are utterly ignored, while inadvertently winding time and space tighter and tighter, faster and faster. A parallel…

Focal Point

By Kent Tate | 00:05:27 | Experimental | 01/10/2013

We live in a holographic world. It is a busy, busy place with much to do, with not enough time to do it. We also live in a world where a host of entities are vying for our attention. With so much competition to retain our gaze a clutter threshold is a very real hazard.

Hila

By Adam Bentley | 00:03:27 | Experimental | 01/10/2016

In the first video to ever feature a choreographed dance in snowshoes, an Inuit woman in Canada's north has a private moment in which she dances in snowshoes.

Tony

By Andrew Lima | 00:15:55 | Documentary, Experimental | 01/05/2016

Born to Azorean immigrants but raised to adulthood in Canada, Tony Adriano formed his identity in a crucible of exterior conflicts and his own unknowable interior motivations. Combining audio testimony with visual processes of D.I.Y. hybrid analog/digital re-photography onto archival remnants, “Tony” is meditation on identity, creativity, and loss.

In Still Time

By Leslie Supnet | 00:10:23 | Animation, Experimental | 01/01/2016

In Still Time is an experimental animation that investigates the catastrophic image to facilitate questions about the moral imperative to look, and our (in) ability to bear witness to unthinkable human suffering.

Murmur

By Caroline Blais | 00:03:13 | Animation, Experimental | 01/01/2017

In the evening, the murmur of appliances and the buzz of a fly are the sounds filling the room.

Bring Me the Head of Tim Horton

By Evan Johnson, Galen Johnson, Guy Maddin | 00:31:09 | Documentary, Experimental | 14/09/2015

Guided by the spirit of Evan Johnson's Cuadecec Manifesto (which calls for makings-of en masse), Bring Me the Head of Tim Horton is a strange, stirring and anarchic behind-the-scenes look at Paul Gross's new feature, Hyena Road.

nature mother

By Delf Gravert | 00:11:12 | Documentary, Experimental | 11/08/2016

By taking the same steps that my mother did, visiting the same photographic haunts, and talking to her friends about her life and work, I learned more about her approach to life and effect on people and also more about myself and my own artistic process.

Female

By Madison Thomas | 00:03:52 | Experimental | 01/07/2016

A feisty prisoner of the patriarchy recites the expectations placed upon the female identifying half of the population.

skin of the cit-y

By Solomon Nagler | 00:07:01 | Experimental | 15/06/2016

Framed by poet Robert Lax's sculptural texts, skin of the cit-y wanders through mills and factories surrendering to the elements, deteriorating in solidarity with the isolated Maritime cities that erode beside them. Contact printed in-camera, the film material stares back, layers view-planes and duration while dreaming in light....
