In Maxime Giroux’s latest feature, the Award winner at TIFF for Best Canadian First Feature, an unusual romance blossoms between two lost souls who inhabit the same neighborhood but vastly different worlds. Meira is a young Hassidic Jewish mother in Montreal’s Mile End district who secretly rebels against her faith by listening to soul music and taking birth control pills; Félix is a loner grieving the recent death of his estranged father. They fall in love. This is the story of an impossible love between two separate beings from two distinct communities, who attempt to draw each other out and to love each other despite their differences.
Generously sponsored by IATSE 856 and Radio Canada Manitoba and presented with Tiff Canada’s Top Ten.
