CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WFG MFM 2021 FALL POST / PRODUCTION FUND RECIPIENTS
We are excited to announce that these three filmmakers received the following funding as part of the 2021 fall cycle of the WFG MFM Post/Production Fund:
Christina Hajjar was awarded $2,000 in cash and $1,000 in WFG services for her project, “Don’t Forget to Count Your Blessings.”
Christina Hajjar is a Lebanese artist, writer, and cultural worker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Treaty 1 Territory. Her practice considers intergenerational inheritance, domesticity, and place through diaspora, body archives, and cultural iconography. As a queer femme and first-generation subject, she is invested in the poetics of process, translation, and collaborative labour. https://christinahajjar.com
Kevin Nikkel was awarded $2,000 cash and $2,000 in WFG services for his documentary, “When We Become Folk Fest.”
Kevin Nikkel is a documentary filmmaker from Winnipeg that isn’t ready to give up yet. He juggles his time between filmmaking, parenting, and teaching.
Vincent Tang was awarded 2,000 cash and $1,000 in WFG services for his film, “Presence.”
Vincent Tang is an independent filmmaker from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Vincent finished post-secondary education at the University of Manitoba, earning a Bachelors of Environmental Design and Masters of Landscape Architecture. Vincent’s great passion for film has led him to forgo a promising career in landscape architecture to pursue his dream of being a filmmaker.
The peer selection committee was comprised of writer/producer Jim Agapito, writer/filmmaker, Sonya Ballantyne and former Membership and Industry Liason of OSM, Maryam Decter. The selection committee was chaired by WFG Production Coordinator, Karen Remoto.
A total of 7 submissions were received for this cycle of the award.
