Call for New Board Members

Mar 22, 2021

The Winnipeg Film Group (WFG) is seeking board members! We are looking for people who really care about the WFG and have the best interests of the organization at heart.

Are you passionate about your local film community? Do you want to make sure that the WFG  promotes inclusivity and diversity? Do you want to move the WFG forward? Then you should consider joining the board!

Board Members have massive influence over the direction of the WFG. The Board of Directors has one employee, the Executive Director (ED) of the Winnipeg Film Group. It is responsible for ensuring the performance and accountability of the ED. The Board works with the ED to lead the organization.

If you join the board you will be given an orientation package that will help you learn about your responsibilities as a Board Member. But here is a quick overview.

Responsibilities of Board Members

  • Attend Board training
  • Attend Board meetings (roughly 10 per year)
  • Learn the bylaws of the WFG
  • Learn about Board procedures
  • Contribute to the working strategic plan
  • Sit on special committees (ie: the fundraising committee)
  • Review finances
  • Review the performance of the ED

‘But how do I run for the board?’

Attend the upcoming WFG AGM on March 25 and submit your name as a candidate for the board! You will need to make a short speech to the membership as to why you want to be on the board. Then the membership will vote on all the candidates.
