There are no application fees, but you must be a current member in good standing of the Winnipeg Film Group to apply.

ABOUT THE AWARD

The Manitoba Film Hothouse Award is designed for an established Manitoba filmmaker to develop their career by providing them with this award for self-directed development.

This award includes $10,000 in cash, $5,000 in Winnipeg Film Group (WFG) services, $2,500 in William F. White in-kind services and a WFG General Membership and WFG Production Add-On. Additionally, the award-recipient will be provided with a special retrospective screening of their work as a director-creator at the WFG Cinematheque.

There is one award annually.

A filmmaker can receive the Manitoba Film Hothouse Award only once.

THE WINNIPEG FILM GROUP ACKNOWLEDGES THE MINISTRY OF SPORT, CULTURE AND HERITAGE OF THE PROVINCE OF MANITOBA FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF THIS AWARD FOR 11 YEARS.

THE WINNIPEG FILM GROUP ACKNOWLEDGES THE MANITOBA ARTS COUNCIL FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF THE MANITOBA FILM HOTHOUSE AWARD IN 2020, 2021 and 2022. 

THE WINNIPEG FILM GROUP ACKNOWLEDGES WILLIAM F. WHITE FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF THE MANITOBA FILM HOTHOUSE AWARD IN 2022.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.

The Winnipeg Film Group is located on Treaty 1 Territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples and in the homeland of the Métis Nation. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land.
