ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Aaron is a filmmaker and musician and has been using the optical printer for both film-to-film and film-to-digital purposes for years. He initially used the optical printer’s manual functions to arduously capture color super 8 one frame at a time, pressing two alternating buttons for hours on end. Since then the Winnipeg Film Group, with the help of James Meagher, has created a DIY automated system enabling members to do automated frame-by-frame HD transfers on the cheap. More recently, Aaron has been experimenting with the optical printer to create colourized textures and multiple exposures. Aaron is very excited to be able to share some of his newly-found secrets of attaining vibrant colours and textures on 16mm, using original, online and found footage
