The tramp (Chaplin) finds an abandoned baby, cares for it and raises it. Now a youngster, the boy helps the tramp survive in poverty in the creative ways of his parent. One day, however, the kid is taken from his adoptive father to be returned to the now successful woman who abandoned him.
