November 1918. Two survivors of the war in the trenches, a talented artist and a modest accountant, both believed dead, come up with a scam, designing war memorials they never intend to build. Their former commanding officer, the sadistic Lieutenant Pradelle has his own plans for cashing in on the corpses of war victims. Set in the midst of the wild revelry of Post-war Paris, the film is a sometimes melancholy and sometimes funny, honest story of playing the cards one is dealt.
