Chasing Trane is the definitive documentary about the legendary jazz saxophone player who turned the jazz world upside down with his boundary-shattering music and worked with titans like Miles Davis. This smart, passionate, thought-provoking and uplifting documentary is for anyone who appreciates the power of jazz to entertain, inspire and transform. Coltrane Trane died in 1967 at the age of 40, an enigmatic, dominant figure whose massive influence on generations of artists has grown even stronger since his death. Featuring everyone from Ben Ratliff, Jimmy Heath, Sonny Rollins, Carlos Santana, Wayne Shorter, to McCoy Tyner.

Steve Kirby is a busy jazz bassist, the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Manitoba, editor of dig! magazine, and artistic director of the Izzy Asper Jazz Performances. Before coming to Winnipeg, Kirby performed and toured with jazz luminaries like Elvin Jones, Abbey Lincoln, James Carter, and Cyrus Chestnut. An award-winning composer, his latest recording project is All Over the Map featuring originals performed by his third stream Oceanic Jazz Orchestra.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.
