Back by popular demand, Director Werner Herzog takes us deep beyond the frontier of an extraordinary place. With specially designed 3D cameras he explores the interior of the Chauvet Cave in Southern France. This is where the world’s oldest known cave paintings were discovered in 1994. In this mesmerizing film he reveals to us a breathtaking subterranean world and leads us to the 32,000 year old artworks.

Reviews

The paintings are extraordinary and the 3-D cinematography invites the viewer to get lost in every brushstroke. This is one of the few films to use the format for intellectual, even philosophical ends: the added depth parallels the deeper understanding of humanity that the paintings inspire.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.

The Winnipeg Film Group is located on Treaty 1 Territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples and in the homeland of the Métis Nation. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land.
