Opening Night Introduced by Jeff Mckay

Panel to follow the Saturday Oct 22, 3 pm screening w/Diana Beresford-Kroeger, author of The Global Forest: Forty Ways Trees Can Save Us and Arboretum America: A Philosophy of the Forest, Sophia Rabliauskas (representative of Pimachiowin Aki), Martha Barwinsky – ‎City Forester at City of Winnipeg, moderated by Terry McLeod, host of the CBC Weekend Morning Show

Five years in the making, Call of the Forest: The Forgotten Wisdom of Trees is a stunningly photographed love letter to the forest. At a recent screening in California the film was greeted with a standing ovation. The audience was moved to tears by the story of how our forests are disappearing around the world. Acclaimed author and scientist Diana Beresford-Kroeger (The Sweetness of a Simple Life and The Global Forest) tours some of the earth’s last great forests in Japan, Ireland, Germany, the United States and Canada and speaks about their endangerment and what we can do about it.

Reviews

I was not prepared for the standing ovation we received at the end of the film. I was not prepared for the huge audience who were crying. And, I was definitely, not, in any way prepared for the warm and heartfelt hugs I received afterwards.
-Writer and activist Diana Beresford Kroeger speaking about audience reaction to CALL OF THE FOREST at a recent nature conference in California, March of 2016.
