In the new film from Palme d’Or winner Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives) a country hospital plays home to a group of soldiers who have fallen into a strange, unending sleep.When a middle-aged volunteer and a young medium manage to make psychic contact with the slumbering soldiers, they trace the men’s enigmatic affliction to the ancient archaeological site that lies beneath the clinic. Irene Bindi is a Winnipeg-based artist and film programmer.Her programming interests include experimental, documentary, and outlier cinema. She has a masters degree in Film Studies from York University and was part of the WNDX Festival of Moving Image curatorial collective from 2011-2015.
