Halloween Horrors: Halloween

Sat, Oct 31 / 9 pm
Directed by John Carpenter
1978, USA, 78 min

John Carpenter’s cult horror movie premiered on October 25th, 1978 in Kansas City and did so well it spread quickly to the rest of the country and is now widely regarded as the most successful independent horror movie of all time. A child killer escapes from a mental institution where he was sent for murdering his sister when he was six years old. He returns to his home town Haddonfield, Illinois and starts stalking babysitter Laurie Strode and her friends. Michael’s psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis follows him to Haddonfield to try to stop him from killing again. Over 37 years later Halloween has spawned several sequels and influenced several other horror movies but the original is still the best. This version of the film is the one that was re-released last year – a digitally restored and newly re-mastered re- release last year supervised by cinematographer Dean Cundey.
