This experimental workshop will show participants how to develop their film using household items such as coffee and sodium carbonate.
Each participant will receive 50ft of Super 8 B&W or 100ft of colour (will be monochrome) or B&W 16mm film, the use of a camera, tripod and one or two lights (if needed), and access to the optical printer to transfer their film. If we can get our 35mm camera functioning, we have some film that can be used.
Class One: Wednesday, October 29th from 7 PM – 9:30 PM. We will go over cameras, loading and proper exposure of the film. There will be some film samples that will be shown so you will know what to expect.
Class Two: Saturday, November 15th from 10 AM – 12 PM. We will go over the recipe for Caffenol-C, and proper processing techniques. Participants will then book time in the darkroom from Nov. 15th to the 18th.
About Mark Borowski: Mark has been an experimental filmmaker for the past 15 years, focusing on hand processing and working with film. He is the Production Centre Programs Coordinator at the Winnipeg Film Group.
