Introduction to Character Design with Alex Copones and Mandy Szwaluk

*Note:  This in-person workshop is limited to 12 participants. While masks are no longer required to be worn in indoor public spaces in Manitoba, individuals are recommended to wear a mask in our Production Centre. 

 

Are you interested in creating visually appealing characters? Learn all about the basics of designing characters utilizing colour, shape, age, costuming, gender (or lack of!), and posing, with Vancouver Film School grads, Alex Copones and Mandy Szwaluk. In this workshop we will delve into simplistic vs complex character design choices, utilizing the basics of Adobe Illustrator shape construction, and participants will gain a deeper understanding of character design choices in film, animation, screenwriting, and more. 

*No drawing skill needed!

 

 

Alex Copones

Alex is a freelance animator and illustrator. She is a Graduate of Classical Animation at Vancouver Film School and is known for animating one of psych2go’s videos “ 6 signs they genuinely like you”.

 

Mandy Szwaluk

Mandy is a Winnipeg based animator and artist, and is a graduate from Vancouver Film School studying Classical Animation. They produced, wrote, and animated their film, Beaver Jam, which was screened at UWPG Film Fest. Currently Mandy is one of WFG’s Technical and Training Coordinators.

The Winnipeg Film Group reserves the right to cancel any course where the minimum registration has not been met. Anyone registered for a course that has been cancelled is eligible for a full refund, Cancelled course fees may also be used towards any other Winnipeg Film Group training programs.
