Paul Almondis the creator of the ground-breaking documentary Seven Up! The latest iteration of the Up-Series, 56 Up, premiered on British TV on 14 May 2012. Paul is one of Canada’s preeminent film and television directors, and has directed and produced over 130 television dramas for the CBC, BBC, ABC (London) and Granada Television. He is known for films like Isabel which was one of the first Canadian films to be picked up for distribution by a major Hollywood studio, and winner of four Canadian Film Awards. The Act of the Heart was the sequel to Isabel and winner of six Canadian Film Awards – including Direction (Almond) and Lead Actress, Geneviève Bujold (ex-wife). Paul spent over 40 years in the film and broadcast industry paving the way for Canadian filmmakers.
Paul is on a book tour though Manitoba, ending here in Winnipeg. He is looking forward to meeting Winnipeg film-makers and seeing how they function in the ever-evolving film industry.
