In this early feature from David Cronenberg, a dermatologist named Adrian Tripod searches for his missing mentor, Antoine Rouge, in the wake of a plague caused by cosmetics that has wiped out all sexually mature women. Shot silently and set to voice-over, Crimes of The Future provides an early glimpse of the director’s obsessions with the human body and technology.

Cronenberg fine tunes his thematic obsessions with Crimes of the Future (1970), a more visually assured but equally detached production that creates a futuristic ghost-town with his eerily empty public spaces and the alienated halls of the “House of Skin”. The mutations and diseases discovered by our detached narrator, radical dermatologist Adrian Tripod, are quintessential Cronenberg inventions.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.
