FIGHTING WORDS: NEW WORKS FROM FEMALE FILMMAKERS

Running from October to February, Fighting Words includes screenings a DIY Independent Filmmaking workshop with Ingrid Veninger, a filmmaking dynamo who formed pUNK films with a “Nothing is Impossible” manifesto.

Ingrid will also premiere her new feature I am a good person/I am a bad person. Other films include Shooting Women, a documentary featuring interviews with camera women form around the world, performance artist Miranda July’s latest feature The Future, Margarethe Von Trotta’s Vision about 12th century Nun Hildegard von Bingen and the inspirational and visionary leader of the Medieval Age, Judy Chaikin’s The Girls in the Band, a poignant documentary about the untold stories of female jazz and big band instrumentalists.

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.

The Winnipeg Film Group is located on Treaty 1 Territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples and in the homeland of the Métis Nation. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land.
