SOUND SERIES: FIELD AND LOCATION SOUND

SOUND SERIES: FIELD AND LOCATION SOUND

APR 20 & 21 / 1 - 5pm

Location: Video Pool
Registration Fee: 100 – 160

On a TV, film or documentary set the Sound Recordists (also refferred to as Sound Mixers) are responsible for producing high quality sound recordings to match the recorded images.

A Sound Recordist’s prime function is to make sound recordings of outstanding quality, free from interference and all unwanted noise. This amy sound relatively straightforward, but can prove very difficult, especially when recording that vital scene or interview near an airport, roadway, play ground or anywhere it is difficult to control the setting.

Perhaps one of the most overlooked and key elements in creating a great film, this workshop will introduce participants to the sound department and the basic operation of sound mixing equipment. This 2-day class will give you a hands-on understanding of how the Digital Nagra works for field sound recording along with the use of microphones. In addition, the class will review scenes from selected films that prominently feature sound as a storytelling device.
