EXPERIMENTAL SERIES: CONTACT PRINTING

EXPERIMENTAL SERIES: CONTACT PRINTING

SAT, APR 7 / 1 - 5pm
SUN, APR 8 / 1 - 5pm

Location: Winnipeg Film Group
Registration Fee: 90 – 120
Instructor: Heidi Phillips

Come try out another cameraless filmmaking technique with Heidi Phillips!  Experiment with contact printing to copy and alter found footage or your own negatives.  We will be adapting one of the Winnipeg Film Group’s flatbed steenbecks to use as our contact printer.  The class will then go into the darkroom to process their prints and create projectable copies of their work.  The results will be amazingly dreamy!

For more information on workshops, please contact the Training & Community Programs Coordinator at 925-3450 or darcy@winnipegfilmgroup.com

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Heidi sifts and searches through old films and found footage, lifting imagery and sound to recycle into her own layered and loosely structured narrative works. Increasingly, she is using old technology such as radios and television sets as sculptural objects within the space. Her film work has been screened in such festivals as Transmediale, Berlin and Images, Toronto. She completed her MFA from Transart Institute in Austria in August of 2008.

our location

We’re located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District in the Artspace building. We are across the street from Old Market Square at the corner of Arthur Street and Bannatyne - one block west of Main.

The Winnipeg Film Group is located on Treaty 1 Territory and on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples and in the homeland of the Métis Nation. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional caretakers of this land.
